Announcement - San Diego Tiger User Group
Meeting This Saturday:
1:00-4:00 PM La Jolla Coco's
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7/29/2014
The DJI's Accumulation Index has turned positive but it
needs to keep improving and volume needs to expand
to avoid a repeat of the January-February 1966 top.
(More details in this new study further below.)
Understand that a rally back up to 18000 would actually give
more price
symmetry
to the emerging head/shoulders that the DJI
could be making. The NYSE A/D Line and the A/D Line for
all the stocks we follow are well below their downtrend-lines.
At this point, the DJI and market as a whole seem stuck
within the their present trading ranges. The operative
Peerless signal remains a Sell S12*. It's hard to find stocks
that look technically attractive enough to buy. We will
be shorting more MINCP stocks when it looks like this rally
has ended.

What about the IP21 turning slightly positive
on the DJI's Chart?
I
think it is instructive here to consider the past cases in bull
markets when the Accumulation Index (IP21) was negative
for 3 to 4 months or more and then rose above +.04.
In all four cases where the IP21 rose above
.04, the bull market
continued 3-5 months longer and prices went moderately higher.
But in the one case where the IP21 Indicator could not rise
above +.04, early 1966, a bear market followed. It is important,
therefore now for the Accumulation Index to keep rising
and surpass +.04. Today it turned slightly positive.

.
The Closing Powers for DIA and SPY have broken their downtrends
but are not yet above their CP 21-day mvg.avgs. The Hourly DJIA
still looks quite weak. While the DJI is about half way from its
price low to its price high in the chart below, the DISI Line is perhaps
up only 15% from its low to its high. Much higher up-hour volume is
needed to repair the urgent hourly selling of the last two months.
(I will place numbers on the Hourly DJI and DISI charts to more
precisely compare the DISI Line strength with the DJIA's.)
Most of the key ETFs and stocks like AAPL and GS show falling
5-day moving averages. Nearly all show falling Closing Powers and
and negative IP21s. It would be constructive if many of these
trading vehicles could close above their 5-day pivot-points and
turn up their 5-day ma and also their Closing Powers.
