"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
we had everything before us, we had nothing before us,
we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way ..."
Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

George Bernard Shaw wrote: "The difference between Marx and Dickens was that Marx
knew he was a revolutionist whilst Dickens had not the faintest suspicion of that part of
his calling."   http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/english/melani/novel_19c/dickens/society.html

Thus, he did not write:
"It was a period of ynimaginable Opulence for a Few and Increasingly abject Poverty for the Many"

What is missing now is a French Revolution.1791, 1848, 1871.
A Russian Revolution, 1905, March 1917, November 1917.
A Mexican Revolution of 1910-1920.
The Greek Revolutions of 1820 and 2012. http://www.nicholasmirzoeff.com/O2012/2012/02/22/why-there-will-be-a-greek-revolution-this-year/
In the event of a new Greek Revolution, I would not bet on a rising stock market in the US.
Revolutions spread and the 0.1% will rush to hide their most liquid assets in Swiss bank accounts.
The US stock market declined sharply in 1917.  This was also the year after the Presidential Election.
