Summary of PEERLESS
Stock Market Timing Software
Automatic Buy and Sell Signals
1965-2007

PEERLESS has major and minor signals that appear on the DJI charts automatically. Performance can be calculated using just major signals, all signals or signals being reversed by major and minor signals. When we use the term "all signals" we count all the buy signals on different days that appear until there is a sell signal to reverse the buys.  The signals that produced these BUYS and SELLS have changed very little over the years.  That is a testament to their enduring power.

All Signals:

1800+ Major and Minor Buy and Sell signals, August 1965 to January 2005

Track Record of Major BUY Signals:

B4 - 30 cases Avg. DJI Gain=7.4% at time of next automatic major sell signal, 170 days avg. holding period and 96.7% were profitable. Biggest Loss=2.41%. 33% of the cases produced a DJI gain greater than 10%.

B9 - 127 cases Avg. DJI Gain=4.04% at time of next automatic sell signal of any type, with 52 days as the average holding period.
80.3% were profitable.  At time of next automatic major sell signal, :78% were profitable and the average gain was 6.41%. with 181 days being the avg. holding period.

B10 - 13 cases Avg. DJI Gain=5.86% at time of next automatic sell signal.  All were profitable.  147 days avg. holding period.
At time of next automatic major sell signal, the average gain was 11.53% on DJIA and all were profitable.  7 of the 13 gained more than 10%.  240 days avg. holding period.

B12
- 14 cases Avg. DJI Gain=5.21% at time of next automatic sell signal of any type with 118 days avg. holding period:
At time of next automatic major sell signal, the DJI gained an average of 14.47%, with 290 days being the avg. holding period.
All were profitably closed out.

B15 - 15 cases.  At time of next automatic major sell signal, the DJI averaged a gain of 9.58%.  93.3% were closed out profitably.

B16 - 2 cases. At time of next automatic major sell signal, the DJI averaged a gain of 21.31%.  Both were highly profitable.

B17 - 14 cases. At time of next automatic major sell signal, the DJI averaged a gain of 21.38%.  All were profitably closed out. It makes no sense to see out quickly on a minor sell following this signal.

B18 - 38 cases. At time of next automatic major sell signal, the DJI averaged a gain of 6.13%.  84.2% were profitably closed out.

B19 - 19 cases. At time of next automatic major sell signal, the DJI averaged a gain of 12.08%.  94.7% were profitably closed out.  This signal called the bottoms of the 1974 and 2002,
each brining gains of more than 35%.

Track Record of Major SELL Signals:

S9 - 282 cases.  The S9 produced an average DJI decline of just 2.4% at time of next automatic Buy signal of any type, but the signal brought an average decline of 10.55% at the time of the next major Buy signal.  70.6% were closed out profitably then.
143 of the S9's brought a decline of 10% of more.  The more S9 signal clumps occur over a 12 month period, the more bearish the market situation. Examples: 1972, 1987 and 2000

S10 - 7 cases Avg. DJI Gain=2.9% at time of next automatic sell signal, 46 days avg. holding period: Avg. DJI Gain=6.9.% at time of next automatic major sell signal, 160 days avg. holding period.
71.4% are profitable.

S12 - 54 cases.  The S12 produced an average DJI decline of just 2.8% at time of next automatic Buy signal of any type, but the signal brought an average decline of 9.19% at the time of the next major Buy signal.  77.8% were closed out profitably then. S9's and S12's often occur at the same time.  That adds to the bearishness of the market. 21 of the 54 cases saw the DJI subsequently fall more than 10% at the time of the next major Buy.
