Only 4 of 26 cases of this type of Buy B14 brought
retests of their lows. All the other brought a very tradable
rally. There were 6 very fine Buy B14s: 1968, 1982,
2006, 2009 (2), 2011 (2) and 2012.
4/8/1968 start of 8 months' rally from 884 to 980.
11/1/1978 DJI had to fall back from falling lower band and re-test lows to build bottom.
8/17/1982 This and a subsequent instance immediately afterward started great bull
market of 1982-1987.
10/21/1987 DJI was still far below falling lower band and had to fall back to
re-test lows to build bottom.
5/31/1988 This helped launch bull market of 1988-1990.
5/11/1990 This was a good intermediate-term Buy, but Sadam Hussein's unexpected
invasion of Kuwait in July short-changed its bullishness.
1/19/2006 This was good intermediate-term Buy for 4 month rally, though
the DJI still needed to retest rising 65-dma just afterwards for a few days.
8/8/2006 Excellent intermediate-term Buy for 6-7 month advance.
1987 (3) These three Buy B14s brought only short-term gains. But they were all
quite tradable.
3/18/2008 Good short-term buy just before extreme bear market.
3/9/2009 Wonderful Buy B14 here. It called end to long bear market and
start of spirited new bull market.
7/15/2009 B14 here perfectly called the re-start of the 2009-2016 bull market.
5/11/ 2010 B14 could not keep DJI from falling back to re-test its lows
when it could not get DJI past falling 65-dma.
May-July 2010 B14s (4) brought tradable rebounds to upper band.
9/1/2011 B14 here perfectly called the re-start of the 2011-2016 bull market.
Aug-November 2011 B14s (3) brought tradable rebounds to upper band.
12/20/2011 B14 started five month advance in DJI.
12/31/2012 B14 started five month advance in DJI.
August 2015. B14 could not keep DJI from falling back to re-test its lows
when it could not get DJI past falling lower band.
