Using The Correct Mode of Market Trend |
Superior trading results will be had using merely the automatic signals produced by trading range mode. But even better results follow from using the correct market mode. To get the correct Peerless major and minor signals, you will need first to decide which Mode the market is in. The automatic trading signals are similar, but not exactly the same, from mode to mode. For the most part, you will find the neutral, Trading Range Mode signals more than satisfactory. But in a strongly uptrending market or after a bear market can clearly just ended, use the Bullish Mode. This makes the Sell signals a little scarcer. The conditions for the Sells in this mode are stricter. For example, the actual upper band used for S9's is slightly higher. Similarly, in a weak, declining market, use the Bearish mode. When in doubt, use the Neutral Mode. More specifically, use the Bullish Mode when a B10, B12 or a B4 signal occurs and the DJI rises above the upper band and a strong uptrend develops. B18 signals show you that the DJI has been trending up for a period of time which is significant and bullish. Use the bullish mode when they appear. Multiple Buy B9's preceding or occurring during a strong uptrend should get you to switch to the Bullish Mode. Superior results accrue if you will switch to the Bullish mode if there has been a B4 or B12 after a long bear market and the DJI then rises and stay above the upper band for more than a few days. Use the Bearish Mode when there are 3 or more sets of S9 signals or when the DJI violates the lower band after there have been two or more S9's in the last 6 months. Use the Bearish Mode when the DJI is unable after repeated attempts to go past a round number, like 1000 in 1976. And use the Bearish mode when the DJI falls more than 10% from its highest closing in all-time high territory, as in 1977. Then continue to use the Bearish Mode until there is a major Buy signal. At that point switch to the neutral mode. Use the Trading Range when the above Bullish or Bearish conditions do not apply, Switch to the neutral mode when the DJI is trending sidewise for 5 or more months and after January in a Presidential Election year. Look at how flat the DJI was for most of 1968, 1972, 1976, 1988, 1992, 2000 and 2004. 1996 was an exception after the September breakout Buy. |
